The differential anti-proliferation effects of the Kwao Krua plant familly including white kwau krua (Pueraria mirifica) ‘herbs for estrogen’, and red kwau krua (Butea superba) ‘herbs for male enhancement’ extracts were evaluated after 4 days of incubation for the growth of MCF-7 cells. Butea superba displayed an anti-proliferation effect on the growth of MCF-7 cells at 10, 100 and 1000 microg/mL with an ED50 value of 370.91 microg/mL. Butea superba also exhibited anti-proliferation effects on the growth of MCF-7 cells in relation with a possible anti-estrogen mechanism.
